Storm Dance Troupe Auditions Set For Week Of April 13

SEATTLE, Friday, March 6, 2009 - Children ages 5-15 with dance experience are invited to try out for the 2009 Storm Dance Troupe. Preliminary auditions will be April 14 and 16 at the Storm's Furtado Center practice facility in Seattle, with the final round conducted at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood on Saturday, April 18.

The co-ed auditions are free, but dancers must be available to attend all three days of auditions: 6:30-9:30 p.m. on both Tuesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 16 at the Furtado Center, 490 Fifth Ave. N., Seattle, and noon-3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Alderwood Mall Food Court, 3000 184th St. S.W., Lynnwood. Radio personality Shellie Hart, host of the Old Skool Lunch on KUBE 93, will be a guest judge.

The selected 2009 Dance Troupe members will perform during all Storm home games at KeyArena this summer. "We are looking for dancers with a variety of dance experience, including hip hop and jazz, but also are seeking kids that have high energy, personality and can entertain a packed KeyArena crowd!" said Sheena Shive, Storm Dance Troupe Manager. Each applicant must bring a current, non-returnable photograph of him or herself.

The Seattle Storm will open its 2009 WNBA schedule on Saturday, June 6 in a 1 p.m. matchup versus the Monarchs at ARCO Arena in Sacramento. The Storm returns to Seattle on Sunday, June 7 for its first KeyArena home game at 6 p.m., also against the Monarchs. The team's June 7, 2009 home opener falls on the 10th anniversary of the city of Seattle being selected as one of four cities to receive a WNBA expansion team in 2000.
