Storm Bounce Back at Home

The Sioux Falls Storm rebounded after their three-game losing streak with a dominant win over the Bay Area Panthers Friday night at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

After a 50-yard return touchdown by the Panthers (1-5, 1-3) on the opening kickoff, the Storm (3-3, 2-3) answered back with a touchdown on the next possession and led the rest of the way in its 49-27 victory.

Newly signed quarterback Dalton Sneed got the start at quarterback and put-up efficient numbers in his first few series he played in, completing nine of his 10 passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Sneed was previously playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last season.

Nate Chavious had an impressive outing as well, scoring four total rushing touchdowns and ran for 75 yards on 17 attempts.

The Storm's first touchdown of the game came on a 16-yard score from wide receiver Kahliq Muhammad. It was the Storm's first lead with 12:24 to play in the first quarter. Chavious later closed out the quarter with one of his four touchdowns to put the home team up 14-6 after one quarter.

The Panthers responded with a touchdown to start the second quarter of play on a 13-yard touchdown and then failed the two-point conversion try. Chavious got back in the endzone the next possession on a five-yard run, capping off a five-minute possession, extending their lead to nine at 21-12.

Right before the half, Sneed threw a 34-yard pass to Carlos Thompson in their only play of the drive, taking a 10-point lead into the halftime break.

Coming out of the break, Chavious had another rush into the endzone, putting Sioux Falls up 17 midway through the third quarter. The Panthers never came back within striking distance the rest of the game cruising to their 22-point victory.

The Storm now sit at .500 heading into their game at home April 29 against the Iowa Barnstormers. The game is at 7:05 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. This is their third game out of four against Iowa in the regular season. Sioux Falls lost March 28 45-31 and April 16 47-37.
