
Storm and Special Olympics Partner Again for Mini Golf Tournament

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will again host a mini golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics South Dakota. This year?s event will feature a 100-hole tournament and an 18-hole tournament. This is the third year that Special Olympics is hosting a 100-hole event and the second year that the Storm has partnered with Special Olympics on the tournament.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 14 at Thunder Road Amusement Park in Sioux Falls. Check-in for the 100-hole tournament starts at 7:30 AM with an entry fee of $50 per person (two person team). Each participant will receive a t-shirt, 100 holes of golf, food and beverage, and be eligible for many prizes.
Check-in for the 18-hole tournament will begin at 10:45 AM with an entry fee of $15 per person (2 person team) and includes 18 holes of golf as well as food, beverage and prizes.
The tournament is designed for teams of two as a best ball format as teams will only count the score of their best player on each hole. Those wanting to participate are asked to organize their group of two before registering. Participants are asked to register by Friday, June 6 by calling the Storm office at 332-4225 or the Special Olympics office at 331-4117.
Special Olympics South Dakota is a year-round program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. More than 1,600 athletes in more than 50 communities train and compete in 12 Olympic-type sports. Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics provides people with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to develop fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy as they participate in the sharing of gifts and friendship with other athletes, their families and the community.
