Anaheim Storm News Release
Anaheim, CA (February 4, 2004) - This Sunday, February 8th, the newly revamped Anaheim Storm (0-3) face-off against the Calgary Roughnecks (3-2) in front of the Southern California fans. The game, televised live on Fox Sports West 2, will begin at 5:30 p.m. (PST).
The Storm will battle for their first win of the season after three tough games against highly touted opponents. Two of the three games were decided post regulation time including the home opener against the Arizona Sting which went into triple overtime, a first for the National Lacrosse League.
Since the last game on January 25th, the team has undergone significant changes in both coaching and management. Pat McCabe, former head coach of the New York Saints, now takes the role in Anaheim. He is assisted by five-time NLL World Champion Kevin Finneran. Team captain and 13-season veteran, Stephen Sombrotto, retired last week as a player and accepted the job of Storm General Manager. The role of Team Captain has been passed onto Forward Casey Powell.
Powell, a Newport Beach resident, leads the team with 16 points (6G, 10A); Chris Panos is second in points for the Storm with 7 goals and 5 assists.
