Buffalo Bandits News Release
Buffalo, N.Y. (February 4, 2004) -- The National Lacrosse League announced today that John Tavares has been named Overall Player of the Week for Week 6. Tavares scored 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points in the Bandits 18-10 victory at Philadelphia on January 31.
"With John's consistent great play, he has been a contender for this award just about every week this year," stated Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott. "It's great to see him win this week. John often gets overlooked because he is such a productive player that coaches seem to look for other candidates. Hopefully, this will help him when it comes time to voting for the Player of the Month for January. In my estimation, he deserves to win that award as well."
Tavares currently leads Buffalo in every major offensive category, including points (31), goals (15) and assists (16) and is ranked in the top ten in the NLL for assists (fourth), points (fourth) and goals (seventh).
