
Storm Add to Wide Receiver Corps

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm are excited to announce the signings of wide receivers John Prather, Kent Shelby, Xavier Hawkins and Markis Sumpter to the 2019 roster.
Prather (6'1,195) will be entering his first season with the Storm. He spent time with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League during the 2018 season. John played collegiately at Carnegie Mellon University where he tallied 191 receptions for 3,068 yards and 25 touchdowns. Prather earned All-Eastern College Athletic Conference, All-Presidents' Athletic Conference and All-University Athletic Association First Team selections.
Shelby (6'2, 210) will be entering his first season with the Storm. He signed as a undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League in 2015. Kent played collegiately at McNeese State University where he accumulated 40 catches for 776 yards and six touchdowns, helping him earn a All-Southland Conference First-Team selection.
Hawkins (5'8, 175) will be entering his rookie season in professional football with the Storm. During his collegiate career at Oregon State University, Xavier registered five receptions for 37 yards.
Sumpter (6'0, 180) joins the Storm for his rookie season as a member of the Indoor Football League. While playing at Western New Mexico University, Markis caught 10 passes for 149 yards, averaged 14.9 yards per reception, notched two touchdowns and posted one tackle in 10 games.
"All around this will be one of the most dynamic group of WR's that we have brought in to camp to start a season," said Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs. "We have length, size, speed and quickness. Many of these guys have been right on the cusp of making the NFL."
