CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Cedar Rapids River Kings have signed offensive lineman Kyle Saxelid to its 2019 roster.
Saxelid (6'8", 305) will enter his second season of professional football. After signing late in the season with the Nebraska Danger, he played in three games, starting one.
The former UNLV Rebel started in 36 games for his college program, and played in 48 in his four eligible years. As a junior he helped lead the Rebel rushing game to 241.5 yards per game which ranked 16th in the country. It was also the program's highest average since 1979.
As a senior Saxelid and the offensive line earned just under their 2016 average for rushing yards at 240.2 yards per game. That season, UNLV had its 10th 1,000 yard rusher in school history and was ranked 19th in the nation.
Saxelid was named 2017 All-Mountain West Honorable Mention by the conference and media. He was named preseason fourth team All-Mountain West by Athlon his junior and senior seasons and was nominated for a spot on the 2016 AFCA Good Works Team for his extensive community service.
Saxelid is a 2013 graduate of Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove, California. He was named second team All-Sierra Valley his senior season, earning 44 tackles and three sacks on the year.
