TAMPA, Fla. -- For the second straight night, it took the Charlotte Stone Crabs and Tampa Yankees extra innings to decide a winner.

This time, the Stone Crabs jumped ahead and defeated the Yankees 5-3 in 11 innings at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Saturday.

The series continued to be unpredictable, as two Tampa players and manager Luis Sojo were ejected from the contest.

With the win, the Stone Crabs maintain their hold on second place in the Florida State League South Division standings. Bradenton won its game over Brevard County to move into first place.

The game began as a pitcher's duel between Charlotte's Alex Koronis and his counterpart Jose Quintana. Both teams were held scoreless until Tampa's Luke Murton pushed a run across on his fielder's choice in the fifth.

The Stone Crabs struck back an inning later to take the lead. Dustin Biell led off with a bunt single and scored on a Hak-Ju Lee double to right center. A few batters later, Anthony Scelfo lifted a sacrifice fly to plate the second run.

But the Yankees had the answer in the bottom half. Kelvin Castro had another big night, highlighted by a two-run double to give the home team a 3-2 advantage.

Koronis departed after the seventh, giving way to Josh Satow. The lefty tossed a scoreless three innings to keep the Tampa bats at bay, which made way for a ninth inning rally.

Down to their final strikes, Mike Sheridan and Mayo Acosta walked with two outs in the ninth. Pinch hitter Mark Thomas then stepped up and lined a single to left to tie the game.

The game remained deadlocked, but the Stone Crabs broke through in the 11th. Three straight Stone Crabs reached to begin the frame, setting the stage for Omar Luna's game winning single. Ty Morrison was also hit by a pitch to force in the insurance run.

Satow (4-4) picked up the win, scattering four hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

Deivis Mavarez earned his second save of the year by tossing a scoreless bottom of the 11th.

Yankees reliever Joaquin Hinojosa (0-1) was tagged with the loss, as he was responsible for allowing both of Charlotte's go-ahead runs in extras.

The Stone Crabs continue their series with the Yankees Sunday at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Righty Jake Thompson (2-5) gets the nod for Charlotte opposite Tampa right-hander Brett Marshall (7-6). First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
