Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," has renewed a working agreement with 1280 AM KWSX as the official radio flagship partner of the Thunder. All Thunder games will be available for viewing and listening online as well via America ONE Sports, serving as the official broadband broadcast provider of the ECHL in 2012-13.
"We're very pleased to again be working with KWSX as the flagship broadcast station of Thunder hockey," said Thunder president Dan Chapman. "This is a great partnership and our fans throughout the area benefit by being able to listen to Thunder broadcasts home and away."
The Thunder and 1280 AM KWSX continue a partnership that has existed since 2009-10 to broadcast up to 72 regular season games and additional Kelly Cup Playoff games this season. The broadcasts in their entirety will begin 15 minutes prior to opening faceoff with the "Thunder Forecast" pregame show.
As part of the agreement, fans can listen to select Thunder games airing on KFIV 1360 AM in the event of scheduling conflicts with other sports programming. All Thunder games airing on either KWSX or KFIV are also available for listening on mobile devices via the iHeartRadio app.
Fans in attendance for home games can also listen to live game coverage on an exclusive feed available only inside Stockton Arena at 92.5 FM.
KWSX, Stockton's News/Talk station featuring "Armstrong and Getty" in the morning, is a growing leader in live Stockton sports coverage, additionally serving as the radio play-by-play home of Stockton Ports minor league baseball and Pacific athletics.
Mike Benton returns for his eighth season of Thunder play-by-play. Benton, 31, has served behind the broadcast mic since the team's inception and on air with the ECHL All-Star Game radio broadcast three times in his career. His work includes contributing reports for the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks official websites, along with color commentary and rinkside reporting roles at the 2010 and 2011 Vancouver Canucks YoungStars Tournament.
" We're proud to be able to continue a valuable partnership with the Stockton Thunder for the 2012-13 season," said Clear Channel Radio vice president and general manager Rich Hawkins. "Fans can get ready for another season of exciting action that reaches a large audience. We're extremely pleased to continue offering expanded coverage of the Thunder."
Further information regarding Thunder Watch Parties and its location will be announced soon.
