Saint Louis FC News Release

AUSTIN, Tx. - Saint Louis FC drew 1-1 against Austin Bold FC in a 90-minute preseason friendly and 1-1 against the LoneStar Academy U19 team in a 30-minute friendly as the squad continues their preseason camp in Texas.

The exhibition against Austin Bold FC was played over three periods of 30 minutes. The first period was choppy with STLFC playing into a steady wind, though Russell Cicerone had some good moments when one-on-one in the attacking third. The wind would play into the away side's favor when switching sides in the second period as Cicerone crossed the ball for Kyle Greig to head in and open the scoring in the 15th minute. The third period saw Austin respond with a goal off a corner kick in the 8th minute but Saint Louis FC would settle in and see out the draw with a few chances at the end. The fourth period against the LoneStar Academy U19s saw Albert Dikwa open the scoring in the 9th minute as he picked off a pass and slotted into the corner but LoneStar would respond with a goal in the 15th minute when a shot from distance hit the crossbar and the rebound was turned in. The period would end with a good effort from Austin Martz that hit the crossbar to finish level. The games served as a good opportunity for the squad to continue to build fitness as STLFC Academy contract players Nichi Vlastos, Kipp Keller, and Lawson Redmon all played 90 minutes while the rest of the squad played 60 minutes.

"It was great to get our healthy guys 60 minutes of game fitness today," said STLFC Head Coach Anthony Pulis. "There were a lot of positives we can take from what was a physical game played in difficult conditions."
