
Stingrays Receive Koger; Sign Defenseman Krelove

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has acquired forward Daniel Koger from the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for defenseman Nick Tabisz. The team also announced that they have signed defenseman Andrew Krelove. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Koger, 22, skated in 22 games with the Cyclones scoring five goals and 15 assists for 20 points. The Szekesfehervar, Hungary, native also appeared 13 games in the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals, Providence Bruins and St. John's IceCaps netting one assist. Last season, Koger finished third in team scoring with the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League grabbing 52 points (29g, 23a) in 64 games. In Hungary, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward won a silver medal in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 World Championships and claimed silver with the Under-18 team and gold with the under-20 squad in 2006-07.
Krelove, 23, dressed in 41 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League grabbing seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points. Currently in his first professional season, the Thunder Bay, Ontario, native completed a four-year career at Bowling Green State University totaling three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 141 contests. Prior to joining the NCAA ranks, Krelove spent two seasons with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League recording 15 points (1g, 14a) in 86 games.
Tabisz, 24, played in 43 games with the Stingrays registering six goals and 13 assists for 19 points.
The Stingrays kickoff a three-game road trip against the Florida Everblades tonight, Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, February 25 against the Gwinnett Gladiators for the sixth annual Pink in the Rink presented by East Cooper Medical Center benefitting Susan G. Komen Lowcountry.
