Arizona Sting News Release
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Tuesday the signing of forward Andy Secore to a one-year contract.
The Sting acquired the rights to the 5'11", 210 lb. lefty in a recent trade with the Calgary Roughnecks that saw defenseman Rob Kirkby head north of the border. Arizona also picked up a first-round selection in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft in the deal.
"We're excited about having Andy at camp this year," said Hamley. "He's a talented kid that will really add to the already stiff competition on the left side of our attack."
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Secore was drafted by Calgary in the second round (20th overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. The 21-year old enjoyed a standout junior career in Canada, playing in the 2005 Minto Cup Final as a member of the Six Nations Arrows. Secore was named the Ontario Junior âA' Lacrosse Association's Most Valuable Player in 2003 after tallying 90 points (43G-47A) in only 20 games. That same year, the dynamic young athlete registered 23 points (5G-18A) as a member of the Hamilton Red Wings of the Ontario Provincial Junior âA' Hockey League.
The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In only their second season in Arizona (after re-locating from Columbus, Ohio), the Sting finished the 2005 regular season with a 9-7 record prior to going on to win the West Division Championship before losing to the Toronto Rock in the Champion's Cup Final (NLL title game).
