Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, AZ --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Thursday that defenseman Mark Cochrane has been signed to the team's Active Roster, pending league approval. Cochrane will be filling in for sophomore defenseman Greg Hinman, who has been placed on the Injured Reserve list.

"Mark is a great competitor and an excellent addition to our roster," said Hamley. "He's very familiar with our defensive system and we know what he brings to the table in terms of leadership, commitment, and ability. We're definitely glad to have him back on the team."

This will be Cochrane's third stint with the Sting. Last season, he was signed to the Active Roster on February 21, 2006 after announcing his retirement in December of 2005. The now 40-year old defender played in six games for Arizona down the stretch last year, registering two assists and 21 loose balls. In the '06 playoffs, the wily veteran tallied 1G-1A-2P in addition to nine loose balls in two games played. He announced his retirement for a second time after the Sting's West Division Final loss to Colorado on April 29, 2006.

In 2004 and 2005, Cochrane tallied 28GP-5G-17A-22P for the Sting. He currently ranks sixth on Arizona's all-time loose balls list with 160. In the '05 post-season, the 6'2", 180 lb. native of Owen Sound, Ontario scored the game-winning goal in the West Division Final against the Calgary Roughnecks, propelling the Sting to the Champion's Cup Final for the first time in franchise history.

In 85 career NLL games, Cochrane has registered 12G-49A-61P-369LB-52PIM as a member of the Arizona Sting, Albany Attack, and Buffalo Bandits. Arizona originally acquired his rights from the San Jose Stealth in December of 2003 in exchange for a third-round pick at the 2004 NLL Entry Draft.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at the Glendale Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
