Arizona Sting News Release
GLENDALE, AZ --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Wednesday that defenseman Greg Hinman has been placed on the team's Active Roster after spending the past two months on Injured Reserve. In order to make room for the 24-year old, veteran Mark Cochrane has been assigned to the Practice Roster.
Hinman sustained an upper body injury in the Sting's January 19 win over the Portland Lumberjax and has not played a game since. Originally signed by the Sting as a free agent on October 3, 2005, the 6'0", 195 lb. defender has tallied 1G-10A-11P in addition to 74 LB in 16 career games with Arizona.
Coach Hamley also announced Wednesday that free agent forward Kyle Neufeld has been signed to the Sting's Practice Roster, and that goaltender Ron Schibild has been released. Schibild had been a member of Arizona's Practice Roster since December after being selected in the fourth round (59th overall) of last summer's NLL Entry Draft.
Neufeld, 23, was originally drafted by Arizona in the first round (11th overall) of the 2003 NLL Entry Draft. The Sting traded the 6'1", 224 lb. lefty along with Travis Gillespie to the Calgary Roughnecks in the summer of 2004 in exchange for defenseman Rob Kirkby. After missing the 2005 season with a knee injury, Neufeld saw action in six games with the San Jose Stealth last year, finishing the '06 NLL campaign with 1G-0A-1P-15LB.
The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at Jobing.com Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
