Sting and C-SET announce 2005 TV schedule

The Charlotte Sting and Carolinas Sports Entertainment Television (C-SET) announced today that C-SET will telecast five Sting games during the 2005 season. The first televised game is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, when the Sting host Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury at 7 p.m. at the Charlotte Coliseum.

“C-SET is happy to add the Charlotte Sting to its ever-expanding programming lineup,” said Naomi Travers, executive vice president of media rights and entertainment for C-SET. “They are an integral component of the Bobcats Basketball family and feature some of the best athletes in the world. We’re excited to showcase Dawn Staley, the Sting’s new #1 pick and a schedule of exciting Sting basketball on C-SET.”

Steve Martin will handle the play-by-play for all five games, with Stephanie Ready handling the color analysis. Martin is a 35-year veteran in sports broadcasting, and currently serves as the radio voice of Charlotte Bobcats. Ready is the sideline reporter for Bobcats games on C-SET, and was an assistant coach for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics in 2004. She also served on coaching staffs for the NBDL’s Greenville Groove and the men’s basketball team at Coppin State.

The Sting schedule of games on C-SET is as follows:

In addition to the five games on C-SET, the Sting at Washington game on August 2 will be televised nationally on ESPN 2, tipping off at 8 p.m.

The Charlotte Sting will open their ninth season on May 21 at the Charlotte Coliseum as they host Washington at 6:00 p.m. Season ticket plans begin at just $102 and are available now by calling a ticket sales representative at (704) 424-WNBA. C-SET is home to the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats and the WNBA’s Charlotte Sting, plus college football, college basketball, college baseball, minor league baseball, news and original programming. C-SET and the Sting are part of the Charlotte Bobcats organization that also includes the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association and the New Charlotte Arena, opening in the fall of 2005.
