Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Wednesday that he has traded Darren Halls and a conditional draft pick to the Toronto Rock in exchange for defensemen Brian Beisel and Brad MacDonald.

"Both of these players have a lot of skill and will see a lot of floor time with us this year," said Hamley. "We felt we needed to add some depth to our back end and this trade addresses that need."

Brian Beisel, 31, has played in the NLL for the past nine years, making stops in Hamilton, Toronto, Albany, and San Jose en route to tallying 34G-80A-114P in 104 career games. The 6'4", 210 lb. defender won a Champion's Cup with the Rock in 2005 and has registered 3G-8A-11P in 6 career playoff contests. A tenacious defender, Beisel has scooped up at least 60 loose balls in four of the past five seasons.

Brad MacDonald, 23, is entering his third professional season after enjoying a standout junior career with the Orangeville Northmen of the Ontario Lacrosse Association. In his rookie NLL season of 2004, MacDonald helped the Calgary Roughnecks win the Champion's Cup, appearing in all three post-season contests that year. In 2005, the 6'0", 200 lb. defenseman tallied 6G-8A-14P in 15 games for Calgary. Last year with the Rock, MacDonald contributed a quintet of assists on the season while logging 27 PIM and scooping up 31 LB in 13 games.

Darren Halls, 22, has been with the Sting for the past two seasons after taken by Arizona in the first round (4th overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. In 19 career games, the 6'0", 220 lb. defenseman has tallied 2G-4A-6P in addition to 67 LB.
