STEWART, RUSCH JUNE PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Sussex Skyhawks OF/DH Caleb Stewart and Quebec Capitales RHP Matthew Rusch have been named the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Month for June. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
Stewart played in 26 games in June. He batted .344 with four home runs and 30 RBIs. The Rush, KY resident scored 16 runs and hammered out 33 hits to go along with a .562 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base percentage. He currently leads the league in RBIs (33) and tied for fifth in home runs (4).
The 28-year-old Stewart was a 22nd round selection of the New York Mets in 2004. He played the last six seasons in the Mets organization.
Rusch made four starts in June. He collected a perfect 3-0 record with an earned run average of 2.61. He fanned 30 batters and walked eight in 31 innings pitched and had an opponents batting average of .173. The 27-year-old is tied for first in the league in wins (4) and fifth in strikeouts (33) and earned run average (2.57). The Schenectady, NY resident played the last five seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization.
