Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, January 7, 2009 - Portland LumberJax forward/transition player Scott Stewart has been named the National Lacrosse League's Transition Player of the Week for week one, the league announced today. The Hamilton, Ontario native scored one goal, added an assist and collected 10 loose balls during Portland's 11-7 loss to the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday.
Saturday marked the second game in Stewart's Portland career that he collected 10 loose balls or more in a game.
Stewart becomes only the second Portland player to ever be named Transition Player of the Week. Defenseman Brodie Merrill earned the honor last season during week eight and in 2007 during week three.
