
Steppe steps up for Gwizzlies

Brook Steppe, former Georgia Tech basketball player and former head basketball coach at Kennesaw State University, has recently signed on to be the head coach for the brand new men's professional basketball team in Atlanta, THE ABA GWINNETT GWIZZLIES.
Steppe is a former NBA 1st Round Draft pick(he was drafted by the Kansas City Kings in 1982), and a five year NBA veteran. In 1982 he was the 17th player selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. His NBA career included Kansas City Kings, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings and the Portland Trailblazers. Prior to being drafted into the NBA, Steppe was a standout on the Georgia Tech basketball team from 1978-1982. More recently, Steppe served as head Coach at Kennesaw State University in the late 1990's, NCAA Division II.
"There is a tremendous amount of work to be done bwtween now and our training camp at the end of October. I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead the Gwizzlies as we establish ourselves as a viable, competitive, professional organization within the American Basketball Association," said Brook.
More than 30 teams nationwide will begin regular season play this November. The ABA Gwinnett Gwizzlies will play all of their home games out of Life University in Marietta for the 2004-2005 season. Their first home game at Life University will be Friday, December 3rd, against the Jacksonville Wave.
