
Stemle makes major league debut

Former New Jersey Cardinals pitcher, Steve Stemle (NJC-98) made his major league debut on May 26, for the Kansas City Royals against the Texas Rangers. Stemle pitched 3 scoreless innings and did not allow a hit or walk, while striking out three. Since his debut, Stemle has appeared in 5 games pitching 9 2/3 innings striking out 8 while walking 3 and giving up 6 earned runs.
The Royals called up Stemle from their Triple A team in Omaha, where Stemle was 1-1 with a 0.45 and three saves in 14 appearances striking out 12 and walking three. Stemle was a 5th round pick by St. Louis in the 1998 Free Agent Draft. Stemle pitched for New Jersey in 1998 going 3-3 with an earned run average of 1.83.
Stemle becomes the 23rd former New Jersey Cardinal to be promoted to the Major Leagues.
