
SteepleCats Welcome Back Knotts, Add Vavaroutsos to Roster

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.- The North Adams SteepleCats are happy to announce that outfielder Scout Knotts (Shippensburg), a 2019 NECBL All-Star will be rejoining North Adams for a second season. Joining Knotts, his teammate from Shippensburg, outfielder Tony Vavaroutsos (Shippensburg).
In 2019, Scout Knotts was a key part of the SteepleCats core. Knotts hit two home runs, drove in 26 runs and had a batting average of .296. During the season, Knotts was named to the NECBL All-Star team. Currently, in his junior season at Shippensburg University, Knotts is already off to a fast start. In five games, Knotts is hitting .389 with five doubles. This coming off the 2019 college season in which he hit .304, belted eight home runs and drove in 29 runs.
North Adams will also be welcoming in another Raider, Tony Vavaroutsos. Last season at Shippensburg, Vavaroutsos was named PSAC Eastern Division Freshman of the Year. The honor was earned after the freshman hit seven home runs, drove in 38, hit a very impressive .336 and did not commit a single error in the field. In 2020, the Canada native picked up where he left off already with two home runs and seven RBIs in six starts.
Both Knotts and Vavaroutsos look to be key parts of the 2020 Season in North Adams.
