Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

The Youngstown SteelHounds woes continued on Friday night as they lose their sixth of their last seven and their fourth straight with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Corpus Christi Rayz.

A tight game all the way through showed the power play on display as Justin Quenneville would score his 16th of the year at 15:49 of the first period to make it 1-0 Corpus after one. The Hounds answered back early in the second period as Tab Lardner tipped a Stephen Margeson shot past the goaltender on the power play to tie the game at one after two periods. For Lardner it is his 11th of the season and his fourth in three games. Brad Roberts played one of his better games of the year stopping 29 of 31 shots but it was not enough as Derrick McIver put home a rebound for a power play goal with under five minutes to play to put the game at 2-1 and out of reach for the Hounds.

Jeff Christian was denied history on this night as he stayed off the score sheet and could not set the new record for most consecutive games with a point. He will remain tied with teammate Chris Richards who set the record last year with 19 straight games with a point.

Y-Town is now 1-3-1 on this road trip and have dropped to 15-11-7 for 37 points, still four behind Bossier-Shreveport for second place in the division as the Mudbugs had the night off. Youngstown will finish the trip Saturday night when they take on the defending champion Laredo Bucks at 8:30pm on ESPN Radio 1240-The Fan and steelhounds.com.
