BOISE, ID- The Idaho Steelheads earned a come-from-behind win and topped the Utah Grizzlies 4-3 in game two of the best-of-seven National Conference Semifinal series, and took a 2-0 lead in the series, which shifts back to Utah for game three on Tuesday. Four different scorers put the puck in the net for Idaho. 4,162 fans witnessed tonight's win at Qwest Arena.
Former Steelhead Lance Galbraith picked up a bounce from the end boards and beat Idaho's Richard Bachman at 7:21 of the opening period on the power play.
At 10:52, John Swanson scored an unassisted goal, top-shelf, for his second of the playoffs to tie the game at 1-1. Swanson walked into the right circle, and quickly snapped a wrist shot by goalie Mike Morrison in the Utah net.
In the second period, Tom May scored the only goal of the frame to give Utah a 2-1 lead at 19:07. May tipped a Ryan Kinasewich point shot on the power play, beating Bachman for his first goal of the night.
At 2:22 of the third period, Matt McKnight found a bouncing puck from the end boards, and with Morrison out of position, McKnight slipped the puck over the goal line to tie the game. The goal, McKnight's third of the playoffs, was unassisted.
Tom May regained the lead for Utah when he tipped home his own rebound after finding a puck in a scramble at 10:53 of the second period; the goal was the second of the night for May.
