Steelheads Announce Protected List

June 3, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph, in conjunction with the ECHL, has released the Protected List for the Idaho Steelheads.

The Protected List is comprised of players on whose ECHL-level rights belong to the Steelheads - players assigned by AHL or NHL affiliates are not eligible to be protected by ECHL members. Those rights can be players who signed with Idaho, were traded to Idaho or whose rights were qualified by Idaho. ECHL members may protect as many (or as few) players as they choose.

Idaho's list:

Forwards: Kael Mouillierat, Justin Dowling, Justin Taylor, Rylan Galiardi, David deKastrozza, Brett Robinson, Austin Fyten, Ian Watters, Tyler Gron, Rob Linsmayer, Adrian Foster, Neil Graham, Ben Ondrus, Nick Johnson, Chad Klassen, Chad Nehring, Ian Lowe.

Defensemen: Patrick Cullity, Gord Baldwin, James Isaacs, Matt Case, Scott Todd, Connor Goggin.

Of the players listed, each appeared in at least one game for Idaho during the '12-'13 season except Klassen, Nehring, Lowe and Goggin. The first three were all players issued qualifying offers by the Steelheads prior to the season, making them eligible to be protected.

Goggin, a 24-year-old blue liner out of Dartmouth College, was acquired by Idaho to complete an earlier trade with the Trenton Titans. He skated in 62 games in his rookie season with the Titans, registering 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) and 53 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 12 games at the AHL level with the Rockford Ice Hogs at the conclusion of his college career.

Ralph must submit his season-ending roster by June 15 to the ECHL league offices. That list, comprised of no more than 20 players, cannot include any players who did not sign an ECHL contract during the '12-'13 season. Any players whose names appear on the Protected List but are not included on the season-ending roster are deemed ECHL free agents.
