Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Idaho Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal announced that he has added two more rookies to the training camp roster, agreeing to terms with forwards Darrell May and Matt Crowell.
May, 25, comes to Idaho after a successful run in the Western Hockey League and four strong years at the University of British Columbia. The 5-foot-11 winger tallied 53 points (18 goals, 35 assists) in his final WHL season in 2004-2005 before moving on to a college career that saw him score 37 goals and add 79 assists between 2005 and 2009.
Crowell (pronounced cr-OW-ll), a native of Kelowna, British Columbia, joins the Steelheads out of the Rochester Institute of Technology where he scored 32 points (17 goals, 15 assists) as a junior this past winter.
"Matt graduated college in three years, so that should tell you about his work ethic," Laxdal said. "And Darrell is the type of well-rounded, versatile hockey player that every team needs to be successful."
Training camp for the Steelheads opens on October 3 with the regular season beginning on October 16 when Idaho hosts the Stockton Thunder at Qwest Arena in Boise.
Season-ticket packages for the 2009-2010 season are available now, starting as low as $450 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season ticket packages are available for as little as $150. New this year is the all-inclusive "Gold Membership." Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or visit www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
