Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release

Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (4-5) will make the journey to Rome, GA this weekend to take on the Georgia Fire (3-6). Both teams are looking to pick up a win after being on extended losing streaks. Last week, Lehigh Valley fell to rival Richmond in the closing seconds 38-37 and Georgia was blown out by Nashville 73-39.

The Steelhawks defensive front came alive in Richmond, tallying seven sacks and nine tackles for a loss. DL Brandon Sutton had four sacks and five tackles for a loss himself and leads the team in both categories on the season (6.5 sacks, and 9 tfl total). DB Dwayne Hollis added five tackles last week, bringing his league leading total to 53. He also tacked on an interception; his seven on the year are tied with league leaders.

This week the defense will be up against WR Johnny Lester (53 catches for 672 yds, 16 tds) and a strong contingent of receivers who have accounted for 41 total touchdowns (3rd in the lead). Georgia's defense is led by DL Jerome Rayond (3.5 sacks, 2.5 tfl, 17.5 tackles). The Fire had a rough game last week, giving up 73 points to the Venom, a team they had beaten twice earlier in the season.

Lehigh Valley's offense looks to explode on a scoring spree of their own, having yet to reach 50 points in a game. QB Adam Bednarik (1,419 yds, 23 tds) has found solid targets in wide outs Brandon Renford (31 catches for 384 yds, 8 tds) and Richie Martin (31 catches for 360 yds, 9 tds) the last couple weeks, they've accounted for all eight of the teams receiving touchdowns the last two games.

This weekend's game is Saturday night at 7:00pm EST. Check for score updates on the Steelhawks Facebook and Twitter accounts. The PIFL website and Facebook page should also have updates. The Steelhawks will be on the road in Hershey for part three of the Keystone Classic versus the Harrisburg Stampede the following weekend. The game is the last stop on the Steelhawks five game road trip and also their final away game in the PIFL regular season. The team will return to the Lehigh Valley for their final home game, and their 2014 PIFL regular season finale, for a June 28th matchup with rival Richmond Raiders. It will also be Fan Appreciation Night, 1,000 team photos will be given out to fans among many other giveaways.
