JUPITER, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle knocked off the Jupiter Hammerheads, 4-1, at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday evening to secure a series win.

For the third consecutive game in the series, the Miracle picked up the early lead with a pair of runs in the second. Chris Paul led off with a grounder through the left side off Jupiter starter Jeff Brigham. Edgar Corcino then ripped a 2-0 pitch into the gap in right center field. Jeremias Pineda's sliding attempt failed and Paul scored from first while Corcino slid in safely to third with a triple. Trey Vavra then placed a lofted fly ball down the right field line that fell in for a hit. Corcino scored to put the Miracle up 2-0.

In the third, Fort Myers added to the lead. With one out, T.J. White coaxed a walk out of Brigham (1-4). Nick Gordon then stroked an 0-1 pitch to dead center field. The line drive soared over the head of Junior Sosa and White rounded the bases to cross home, 3-0.

Miracle starter Keaton Steele faced the minimum through four innings, but had a string of 11 consecutive outs snapped in the bottom of the fifth. Taylor Ard homered to lead off the frame, his second of the series, and cut the Miracle lead to 3-1.

Steele (2-6) went six innings and gave up just one run on three hits with two walks and one strikeout.

Fort Myers tacked on a run in the seventh. A.J. Murray began the frame with a double down the third base line off Jupiter reliever James Buckelew. After Buckelew struck out Joe Maloney, Alex Perez bounced a single up the middle and Murray scored, 4-1.

John Curtiss entered in the seventh and tossed a perfect frame, but loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth. Todd Van Steensel was beckoned from the Miracle pen. Van Steensel retired the final out of the eighth and has now stranded 18-of-20 inherited base runners. Van Steensel remained in the game for the ninth and picked up two strikeouts in a perfect inning for his fourth save of the season.

The Miracle (35-36, 1-1) return to Hammond Stadium for a quick one-game homestand against the Bradenton Marauders at 4:05 p.m. Randy Rosario (3-5) is set to start for the Miracle opposite Austin Coley (9-5) for the Marauders.
