
Steamwheelers Trade in Football Shoes for Basketball Shoes

DAVENPORT, Iowa â The Quad City Steamwheelers are going to trade in their football turf shoes for basketball shoes. The law firm of Gomez, May, Cartee, Schutte, and Yeggy is presenting a charity basketball game between the Steamwheelers players and Davenport West High School Staff / Y.M.C.A Staff on Wednesday, March 10.
The game will be held at the Davenport West gymnasium located at 3503 West Locust Street. The doors open at 6 p.m. with the tip-off set for 7 p.m.
Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults with all proceeds going to the Scott County Family Y's Partners with Youth Campaign. Come see the Steamwheelers show off their basketball skills and support the Y.M.C.A at the same time.
At halftime of the basketball game seven area high schools will participate in a hot dog eating contest. Five representatives from each school will have five minutes to eat as many hot dogs as possible. The seven schools participating in the contest include Bettendorf, North Scott, Pleasant Valley, Davenport Assumption, Davenport Central, Davenport North, and Davenport West.
