EDENTON, NC - The Edenton Steamers took a 10-5 victory over the Peninsula Pilots in a rain-shortened contest on Friday night. Edenton (4-1, 16-17) won its fourth straight, while Peninsula (2-3, 21-11) dropped its third consecutive contest.

Trevor Houck grabbed the win for the Clams. Houck (2-1) hurled five innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on ten hits while walking one and fanning two.

Collin Nowak took the loss for the Pilots. Nowak (2-1) lasted three innings, surrendering six runs on as many hits with one walk to five strikeouts.

The Steamers jumped out to a 3-0 in the bottom of the first. Richie Cunningham drew a five-pitch walk to start the frame, moving to third on a Trey Hair double in the next at bat. Aaron Aucker cleared the bases with his fifth homerun of the season to give Edenton a three-run advantage.

The Teal and Black added another tally on a homerun by Thatcher Coleman to take a 4-0 lead after two innings.

The Pilots cut the Clams' lead in half in the top of the third. Hunter Taylor led off the frame with a single, coming home when Kurt Sinnen put a ball over the wall in right to bring the score to 4-2.

Edenton responded with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Tony Rosselli cracked a dinger over the tall wall in left, and Bobby Schuman followed suit with another two-out homer to give the Steamers a 6-2 lead after three.

The Pilots came right back with two more in the fourth. Logan Augustine started off the frame with a solo shot, and Nick Walker kept things going with a four-pitch walk. After Taylor singled to put runners on the corners, Evan Fernandez pushed a bunt down the third-base line, and an errant throw to first by Aucker allowed Walker to score and cut the Steamer lead to 6-4.

Peninsula narrowed the margin even further with one more run in the fifth. Kyle McPherson put a man on with a one-out single, coming all the way around to score on Walker's double two batters later.

The Clams opened up a big lead with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Consecutive singles from Hair and Aucker put runners on the corners with no outs, and Rosselli knocked a double to right-center to plate Hair. Aucker was waved home on the play, but the throw from center beat him to the plate. After Schuman struck out to put two away, Stefan Van Horn stepped up and cracked a double to push Rosselli across, and Coleman polished off the scoring with a his second dinger of the night to extend the Edenton lead to 10-5.
