
Steamers Sweep Tobs in Thrilling Fashion

Game 1:
The Steamers defeated the Tobs 15-6. The Tobs jumped out to an early lead when Tanner Johnson hit a two-run homerun to make it 2-0. However, the Clams would answer and never look back. The Steamers answered with a five run first inning. The Teal and Black ran the starter, Hank Simpson, out of the game after just two-thirds of an inning. Simpson gave up five runs while walking four and giving up two hits. The first inning included a Joey Mundy homer to push the lead to 5-0.
The Steamers would add to their lead in the third when Connor Kopach hit a two-run shot to right-center field to make it 7-0. Chris Williams would single home a run in the same inning to make it 8-0.
The long ball continued to fly for the Steamers in the fourth when Dom Cuevas connected with a fastball and sent it over the Teal Monster to make it 9-0.
After a Tobs run in the fifth, the Steamers put up a six spot in the inning to make it a 15-3. Joey Mundy had a two-RBI single in the inning. Mundy finished the game 2 for 4 with five RBI and two runs scored. The Steamers finished the fifth frame with six runs on four hits and an error.
The Tobs would get a few runs late in the sixth and seventh, but the Steamers hung on for the victory.
Kelvin Pilot picked up the win for the Steamers. Pilots pitched five and a third giving up four runs and two walks while striking out seven. Hank Simpson picked up the loss for the Tobs.
Game 2:
The Steamers defeated the Tobs in thrilling walk-off fashion 13-11. For the third straight game, the Steamers scored in the first inning. This time the Steamers put up a six spot. Connor Kopach led off the game with his second homerun of the night. After the Steamers pushed across two more runs, Tristan Carranza hit a three-run blast to right center to make it a 6-0 lead.
This time the starter for the Tobs, Tristen Roberts, went just a third of an inning. Roberts gave up six runs and three walks.
After the Steamers stretched the lead to 10-2, that was when the madness began. The Tobs put up a seven spot in the fifth inning to bring the game within one. During the inning, the Tobs had seven runs on four hits and one error. The Steamers had four errors in the game.
The Tobs tied the game after Tyler Burns threw the ball away on a bunt by Wilson. Giampetruzzi, the pitcher in the inning, got the next three outs to strand the runner at third base.
After both teams left runners stranded in the seventh, it sent the game to extra innings. In the eighth, Wilson would take the lead for the first time all night on a single up the middle by Chad Frazier to make it 11-10.
The final chance for the Steamers came in bottom half of the eighth and they delivered. Billy Wilson would hit a towering shot over the scoreboard in right to tie the game at 11. After a walk by Agresti, Anthony Maselli delivered the magic when he went opposite field for a walk-off homerun two batters later to win it 13-11.
The winning pitcher for the Steamers was Austin Cox and the losing pitcher for the Tobs was Cole Hinnant.
The Teal and Black will next play on Monday against the Wilmington Sharks first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
