Steamers, Generals Game Postponed

June 22, 2013 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Edenton Steamers News Release

EDENTON, N.C- The Edenton Steamers (16-5) and the Petersburg Generals (3-17) game at Historic Hicks Field on Saturday night was postponed due to inclement weather in Edenton.

The city of Edenton took some early rain all morning and the skies stayed overcast most of the afternoon until more rain came on through ruining any chance of a game at Historic Hicks Field tonight.

Around 2:30 pm the skies opened up again, making an absolute muddy mess of left and left-centerfield. Despite the grounds crew in Edenton's best efforts the field was ruled unplayable, especially considering the forecast called for much more rain as the evening progressed.

The game has been re-scheduled as part of a double header to be played in Edenton on Saturday, June 29th. This is the final time the Generals make the trip to Edenton in the first half and will be the final games of the first half for the Steamers.

The rainout marks the second time the Steamers have been washed away this season.

Edenton is back at it Tuesday, June 24th in Peninsula.

The Edenton Steamers are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
