Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Helena Brewers 6-4 at Kindrick Field in Helena. Ryan Rote (1-1) picked up the win as he worked and inning and a third out of the bull-pen. The loss went to Kevin Roberts (1-1) for the Brewers as he worked three and a third innings, allowing two runs.

The Brewers scored first in the bottom of the first when Augustin Septimo scored on a wild pitch to make the score 1-0 Helena.

The Sox would strike in the fourth when they sent nine men to the plate and scored four times. Javier Castillo, Matt Sharp, and Matt Tribble had run scoring hits in the inning as Great Fall knocked Helena starter Rafael Llubares out of the game in the fourth.

The Brewers cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Ryan Braun hit a two-run homerun to centerfield to make the score 4-3.

From there the relief pitching was on top of things for both teams. From the fourth to the eighth the bullpen did not allow a run. Then in the bottom of the eighth the Brewers scored an unearned run on a Javier Castillo error that allowed Braun to score and tie the game at 4-4.

In the top of the ninth the Sox had a squeeze play fail. Even Tartaglia then avoided the tag at home for a steal of home plate to put the Sox back up. Brandon Allen later doubled home another run to put the Sox up 6-4. The Sox would hold on to win by that same score.

In the game Brewers manager Ed Sedar and pitching coach Mark Littell were thrown out of the game on two separate occasions. Tartaglia had three stolen bases in the game.

Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of the three game series in Helena. The starters for the game are: Clayton Richard (LHP) for Great Falls and Tyler Morrison (RHP) for Helena. Game time is at 7:05pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:50.
