
Stavrou Scores Four in Sidekicks Win

DALLAS - Nick Stavrou scored four goals as the Dallas Sidekicks defeated the Kansas City Comets 7-5 at Reunion Arena Saturday. Stavrou's four tallies tied his career high from a 19-8 victory against Monterrey La Raza July 11, 1993. Shaun David had a Sidekicks' rookie franchise record three assists in the win.
Dallas (10-7) scored four of the five goals in the third quarter to take a 7-4 advantage entering the final period. Stavrou had two goals in the period along with tallies from David Doyle and Beau Brown. Doyle and Stravrou are tied for the Sidekicks lead with 15 goals on the season. Juan Cabeza found the net for the Comets (5-10) at 10:16 of the third. Cabeza also had the Comets' lone fourth quarter goal. The Sidekicks are now 10-0 when leading after three quarters.
The game was tied 3-3 at halftime. Kansas City had first quarter scores from Miodrag Djerisilo and Jeff Davis as well as a second period score from Dino Delevski, who leads the MISL with 20 goals. The Sidekicks first half tallies were Ricardinho at 2:18 of the first and the Stavrou at 14:53 of the opening stanza and 9:19 of the second.
With the tenth victory, the Sidekicks have surpassed their win total from a 9-27 record last season.
The win gives Dallas a one-game lead on the San Diego Sockers (8-7) in the western division. The Sidekicks are at the Sockers Sunday January 4 at 7:05 p.m. Coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at 6:50 p.m.
