Force Falls To Defending Champs

CLEVELAND, OHIO. - The Cleveland Force played host and was defeated by the defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion and Eastern Division Baltimore Blast by a final score of 7-5 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.

With the loss, the Force fell to 4-10 overall, 0-5 versus MISL Eastern Division opponents, 0-3 in the season series and 2-5 at the Convo. With the victory, the Blast improved to 11-5 overall, 4-2 versus Eastern Division opponents and 4-3 on the road.

Cleveland opened the scoring (1-0) when Hector Marinaro scored the unassisted goal at 4:31 of the first quarter. Baltimore tied the game (1-1) when Rich Daughtridge scored from beyond the yellow line off the pass from Billy Nelson at 6:32. The Blast took their first lead of the game (1-2) when Allen Eller found the back of the net at 8:28.

The Force tied for the second time (2-2) and opened the second quarter scoring when Justin Evans scored the goal off the assist from Vermilion resident Chris Dore at 6:38. Cleveland regained the lead (3-2) when Walsh Jesuit High graduate Adam Campellone stole the ball on the boards and found the back of the net for his first career MISL goal at 7:32. Baltimore tied the game for the third time (3-3) when Neil Gilbert scored the unassisted goal at 10:51.

The Force regained the lead and opened the second half scoring (4-3) when Lee Edgerton scored the power play goal off his chest from the assist of Braeden Cloutier at 12:31 of the third quarter. The Blast tied the game for the fourth time (4-4) when DeWan Bader found the back of the net off the cross from Carlos "Chile" Farias at 14:09.

Baltimore regained the lead (4-5) when Denison Cabral scored the power play goal off the pass from Farias at 6:21 of the fourth quarter. Cleveland tied the game for the fifth time (5-5) when Myles Stoddard scored the restart goal off the pass from Cloutier at 7:35. The Blast took the lead (5-6) when Gilbert scored the unassisted goal at 7:58. Baltimore sealed the game (5-7) when Cabral scored the shoot out goal at 13:52.

Cleveland will play host MISL Central Division Kansas City Comets on Sunday, January 11 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
