Staten Island Yankees Announce National Anthem Auditions at SI Mall

The Staten Island Yankees have announced that they will hold tryouts for individuals to sing the National Anthem and "God Bless America" for the upcoming season. In total, 12 auditions will be held every hour on Saturday, April 5 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will take place in the Center Court of the Staten Island Mall.

Performers are encouraged to come out and try for the chance to sing in front of 7,171 fans at Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George. Those interested in auditioning can fill out a form online at www.siyanks.com/natryouts, where they can choose to try out for either the "The Star Spangled Banner" or "God Bless America," or both.

Staten Island Yankees President Joe Ricciutti welcomes fans of all ages to come out to the Staten Island Mall and audition for this unique opportunity.

"Singing in a ballpark is something that not many get to experience," Ricciutti said. "It's every musician's dream to perform in front of thousands of excited fans. We are pleased to be able to give this opportunity not just to individuals, but choirs, barbershop quartets, bands and anyone else with musical talent."

The Staten Island Yankees kick off the 2008 season on June 17 against the Brooklyn Cyclones at KeySpan Park. The team's first home game will be on June 18 against the Cyclones at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
