-SPIKES LOCK HORNS WITH D-DAYS: The State College Spikes square off against the Auburn Doubledays tonight at 7:05 p.m. for the second game of a three-game series at Falcon Park. The Doubledays now lead the all-time series, 19-12, and the series at Falcon Park, 11-4

-LAST NIGHT: The Spikes were held out of the hit column by Auburn starter Joel Carreno until the seventh inning, and State College fell to Auburn, 4-1. Kyle Morgan collected the first Spikes hit with one out in the seventh, and scored the only State College run after a pair of errors brought him home. The Spikes totaled three hits in the game, with David Rubinstein and Kyle Saukko responsible for the other safeties. Quinton Miller went three innings and took the loss in his second professional start, allowing three runs (but only one earned) on five hits and three walks.

-PAULINO TO PITCH FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Ricardo Paulino makes his second appearance of the season, and his first start, for the Spikes tonight. The Dominican right-hander went four innings in relief of Nelson Pereira in his last appearance on June 21 against Williamsport, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three. Paulino spent the last two seasons in the Gulf Coast League, and pitched for the Dominican Summer League Pirates from 2004-06.

-AUBURN HOPES FOR STATE OF "GRACE": The Doubledays send right-hander Scott Gracey to the hill for his second start of the year. Gracey went 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against Batavia on June 21. The University of New Mexico alum allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out two.

-POWER OUTAGE: The Spikes and the Oneonta Tigers are the only teams left in the New York-Penn League currently without a home run this season. However, State College has had to visit spacious parks like Williamsport's Historic Bowman Field (340-plus feet down the lines)and Auburn's Falcon Park (15-foot high fences) to start off the year.
