-SPIKES RESUME PINCKNEY PLAY TONIGHT: The State College Spikes head to Falcon Park tonight to take the Auburn Doubledays in the first game of their three-game set, starting the back half of a six-game road trip. State College is 8-11 all-time against Auburn in Central New York, but 20-20 overall. The Spikes are in the midst of an 898-mile trip, the longest of the season to this point.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes and the Connecticut Tigers brought their three-game series to a swift conclusion, taking just one hour and 39 minutes as the Tigers took a 2-1 win. It was the shortest nine-inning game in Spikes history, beating a one-hour-and-55-minute affair at Jamestown on July 7, 2006. Gerlis Rodriguez was the only Spike with multiple hits, including an RBI double in the third that knocked in the Spikes' only run. Connecticut scored twice in the first to establish the lead, and held on for a series victory at Dodd Stadium.

-AWARD-WINNING DECKER BACK ON MOUND: Right-hander Kevin Decker, the current holder of the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week award, makes the start for State College tonight. Decker, undefeated in 2010 between an 8-0 record at the College of Charleston and a 2-0 record with the Spikes, carries a scoreless streak of 13.1 innings into the game. The streak goes all the way back to July 1, and includes 10.1 innings last week.

-STRICKLAND THE PRINCIPAL FOR D-DAYS: Left-hander Sam Strickland gets the ball for Auburn this evening. Strickland is looking to rebound from his last outing, where he alllowed seven runs, five earned, on six hits and two walks over two innings against Aberdeen. The Houston native has a 1.69 ERA in three home starts this season.

-CURRY'S STREAK SNAPPED: Spikes first baseman Matt Curry saw his 12-game hit streak snapped last night, going 0-for-3. Curry still has an active 13-game on-base streak.
