-SPIKES LOOK FOR SERIES WIN: The State College Spikes look to top the team with the NYPL's best record for the second night in a row tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, as they face the Vermont Lake Monsters in the second game of a three-game set. State College is now 8-4 on the season at home.

-LAST GAME: Quinton Miller and Kevin Decker combined for a four-hit shutout as the Spikes stifled the Lake Monsters for a 3-0 win last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Miller retired the first ten batters he faced, and allowed just one hit and one walk in four innings of work. Decker took over in the fifth, and went five innings with just three hits against him to pick up the win. It was Decker's second straight relief appearance of five innings or more, extending his scoreless streak to 13.1 innings. Kelson Brown collected three hits and two RBI to lead the State College offense.

-FUESSER GETS FIRST START TONIGHT: Left-hander Zac Fuesser gets the ball in the top of the first tonight for his inaugural start with the Spikes. Fuesser has made five relief appearances on the year, earning his first pro save with three shutout innings to finish off State College's win over Williamsport on July 3rd.

-VERMONT CASTS SWYNENBERG BEFORE THE SPIKES: Right-hander Matt Swynenberg, who owns the NYPL's best ERA at 0.41, gets the nod for the Lake Monsters this evening. Swynenberg has allowed just one run this year, to Tri-City on June 25th, and has thrown 15 straight scoreless frames since then. The Davenport, IA native was the Nationals' 28th-round draft pick in 2009, and went 2-2 with a 5.17 ERA in 8 starts last year for Vermont.

-DECKER EARNS NYPL HONORS: Right-hander Kevin Decker was today named the NYPL Pitcher of the Week for July 5-11. Decker logged 10.1 scoreless innings on the week.
