-SPIKES CONCLUDE SERIES WITH D-DAYS: The State College Spikes play their final game at Falcon Park this year against the Auburn Doubledays tonight. The Spikes are 5-2 against the Doubledays this year, having taken both three-game series between the two teams. Auburn leads the all-time series, 20-17.

-LAST NIGHT: Carlos Silva tied a Spikes record with three doubles in one game and went 4-for-4 as the Spikes defeated the Doubledays, 8-5, last night at Falcon Park. After a 93-minute delay for infield repairs, the Spikes scored three runs in the third and seventh innings to pull away from Auburn and get the victory. Tyler Cox earned the win for the Spikes in relief, while Teddy Fallon picked up his first career save with a scoreless ninth inning.

-SPIKES SEND ERICKSON TO MOUND: Right-hander Jason Erickson gets the ball tonight for State College. Erickson has alternated between starting and relieving on the year. Tonight will mark his fourth start and ninth overall apperance for the Spikes. The 24th-round draft pick out of the University of Washington has been 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA in his three starts so far this year, and allowed one unearned run in three innings the last time he faced Auburn on June 25.

-AUBURN LOOKS FOR WRIGHT STUFF: Left-hander Matt Wright will start on the hill for Auburn. The McClure, PA native grew up just 45 miles southeast of State College, and went to Shippensburg University. Wright makes his ninth appearance and fifth start of the year tonight for the Doubledays, and faces the Spikes for the first time this year. He faced the Spikes on two occasions in 2008, recording no decisions and a 3.00 ERA.

-SILVA JOINS VAN SLYKE IN RECORD BOOK: Carlos Silva joined A.J. Van Slyke as the only Spikes with three doubles in one game last night. Van Slyke accomplished the feat on July 21, 2006 at Oneonta. Silva was also on deck for the final out of the ninth, just one hit shy of the single-game record for base hits, set by Ciro Rosero with five on August 8, 2008.
