Huntsville Stars News Release

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - The Huntsville Stars schedule for 2011 has been officially released, with the Stars starting on the road in Jacksonville Thursday, April 7. They open at home against the Carolina Mudcats on Wednesday, April 13. The 2011 regular season concludes on Monday, September 5.

The Stars will celebrate a number of holidays at home next summer, including Armed Forces Day (Saturday, May 21), Memorial Day (Monday, May 30), Father's Day (Sunday, June 19), and Labor Day (Monday, September 5). We will have a special pre-Independence Day celebration on July 3, as the team is on the road again for the 4th of July.

The 2011 Southern League All-Star Game will be held at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn., home of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The mid-summer classic will take place in the middle of the season on Tuesday, June 21 as opposed to the night before the MLB All-Star Game, as was the case this year.

The Stars wrap up the 2010 season with a three-game series in Montgomery starting tonight followed by five games at home against Mobile. The final home series starts Friday and will include a double header to make up for the game that was rained out in Mobile over the weekend.

Huntsville is currently three games out of the Wild Card lead, trailing West Tenn. The Tennessee Smokies clinched the second half North Division championship over the weekend, leaving the second play-off spot to the team with the best overall record.
