
Stars Place Four in West Starting Lineup

Huntsville, AL â The starting lineups for the 2003 Southern League All-Star Game have been announced, and Huntsville placed four of its seven participants in the West starting lineup. In the following order, the top three in the West lineup are all Stars: centerfielder Dave Krynzel, shortstop J.J. Hardy and third baseman Corey Hart. Right-hander Mike Jones will be the West's starting pitcher.
All four are making their first extended stay at the Double-A level, and each is having an outstanding season. Krynzel leads the league in steals (30), triples (7) and runs scored (53), and his .317 batting average is fourth in the league. Hardy's .309 average places him ninth, and he is slugging .500 with nine homers and 42 RBI in 61 games. Hart is batting .299 with eight homers, including two grand slams, and a league-high 61 RBI. Jones is tied for fifth in the league in wins (7) and carries the fourth-best ERA (2.47).
Joining the four starters in Jacksonville, Florida for the July 8 All-Star Game in Jacksonville: Stars pitchers Luis Martinez, Derek Lee and Matt Parker. Additionally, the entire Huntsville coaching staff will be there as a result of the Stars' first-half title: manager Frank Kremblas, pitching coach Stan Kyles, hitting coach Sandy Guerrero, trainer Greg Barajas and strength and conditioning coach Jon Williams.
The Stars conclude a homestand with Birmingham tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Joe Davis Stadium, then they return home for a spectacular July 4th weekend. On Friday night, July 4th, IDT-PEI presents an Independence Day fireworks spectacular, with the first 1000 fans receiving a free Stars gym bag. The Famous Chicken entertains fans of all ages on Saturday night, July 5th. On Sunday, July 6th, the first 1500 children age 14 and under receive a free baseball glove courtesy of Pepsi. Game time Friday and Saturday is 7:05 p.m., and the first pitch Sunday is 6:05 p.m.
