Stars Face NDTP on Road this Weekend

February 22, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Lincoln Stars News Release

Lincoln is coming off a 1-1-1 weekend in which it opened up with a 4-2 win at home over Sioux City last Friday to record its first win when trailing after two periods this season. The Stars dropped the rematch the next day at the Musketeers in overtime before falling at home to Dubuqe, 7-2, last Sunday.

Team USA only completed one game last weekend, falling 6-3 at home to Muskegon. NTDP traveled to face the Lumberjacks the night before but the game could not be completed to due to ice problems. Twenty four current or former NTDP players appeared on NHL Central Scouting's 2024 Midseason Rankings. Cole Eiserman was the highest-ranked active skater at eight among North American players and he leads all NTDP skaters with 16 goals in 14 games.

Though these games are on the road, Stars fans can still watch Friday's game together at the teams' watch party at Gate 25. Please not that both games will NOT be available to watch on FloHockey. Fans can instead catch both games on usahockeytv.com. As always, the Lincoln Stars broadcast on Mixlr at mixlr.com/lincoln-stars will still be available.

The Lincoln Stars take on the United States National Team Development Program this Friday and Saturday night at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. at 7 p.m. EST both nights.

The Stars open the weekend against the Under-18 team on Friday before taking on the Under-17 team on Saturday. This is the first time that Lincoln will face the NTDP since Jan. 17-18, 2020 when the Stars came to Plymouth and swept both games. The two teams have a few connections as Stars defenseman and captain Kai Janviriya played for Team USA the last two seasons before being selected 11th overall by the Stars in the 2023 USHL Phase I Draft. NTDP Under-18 head coach Nick Fohr previously played for the Stars in the franchise's first two seasons from 1996-98. Fohr recorded 82 points (27+55) in 102 games and was part of the 1997 Clark Cup Champions.
