Huntsville, Ala. - Huntsville's Ryan Knox doubled home Daryl Clark in the third inning and the Stars (22-13) never trailed in a 3-1 win over Tennessee (22-14) on Sunday afternoon.
Tennessee's Jeremy Cummings (4-3) threw a season high 6 1/3 innings and suffered his first loss over his last three starts. Cummings allowed a leadoff pinch double to Chris Cosbey in the sixth inning and threw a wild pitch to score Cosbey. The Stars got their final run on a solo home run by Brandon Gemoll.
The Smokies lone run came in the seventh again against Matt Childers. Right fielder Ryan Knox dropped Yadier Molina's fly ball for a two base error, and Molina scored on a wild pitch.
Huntsville's Mike Adams struck out the final two batters to earn his fourth save of the season.
The Smokies and Start continue their series Monday evening at 8:05 EDT. Rhett Parrott (1-3, 4.24) will start for Tennessee, with Luis Martinez (4-1, 0.86) getting the call for Huntsville.
