
Starfires Bats Overcome Bravehearts

Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts fell to the Westfield Starfires Friday night by a score of 9-1 at Fitton Field. With the loss, Worcester moves to 12-12, while Westfield moves to 11-11.
The Bravehearts got out to an early lead in the first inning after a double by Alex Neff (Dayton) drove in Shrewsbury native Nick Martin (Westfield State). Grafton native Jack Choate (Assumption) started the game and took the loss for the 'Hearts, delivering 5.1 innings of work in which he allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits, while striking out ten.
After tying the game in the third inning, the Starfires took the lead on a passed ball that scored Cam Meyer (Holy Cross) in the fifth. Westfield would not look back, scoring seven more runs in the next four innings. Starter Roland Thivierge (Mitchell) took the win, holding Worcester to one run on five hits over six innings, striking out six on the way.
Worcester is on the road tomorrow, Saturday June 26th when they face the New Britain Bees at 6:35 p.m. The Bravehearts return to Fitton Field on Sunday when they face the Nashua Silver Knights at 4:00 p.m.
