Star Wideout Flies Back to the Nest

Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release

Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are thrilled to announce the re-signing of star Wide Receiver Troy Pascley (6'2", 210) for the 2014 season. The former University of Louisville standout immediately upgrades the Receiver position for the Steelhawks giving them a Veteran on the outside, and a big target for Quarterbacks Adam Bednarik and Shane McSweeny.

In just two regular season contests last season, Pascley caught nine passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Following those two performances to begin the season he caught the eye of many NFL and CFL scouts, and had opportunities with representatives from both leagues. He was re-signed to the team late in the season for their playoff run and in the team's first round playoff contest against the Richmond Raiders, he took the game's first play deep for a 45 yard score. However, a second quarter foot injury forced him out for the rest of the contest and the Steelhawks could not complete their championship run falling 44-40 to the Raiders.

Head Coach Chris Thompson is thrilled to get Pascley's dynamic playmaking ability back into his #1 ranked offense from a year ago. "Troy is one of the most physically gifted athletes I have ever coached. He brings a rare combination of size, sub 4.3 speed, and game changing ability to this offense. He and Bednarik formed a great on-field relationship last year, and we are truly lucky to have him back for 2014. I fully expect him to once again showcase his talents, and get back up to the NFL this year."

Added Steelhawks General Manager Mike Clark, "Not only is Troy a standout player, he is also a standout person. He took on a leadership role on this team last year beyond anything we have seen before, and was looked up to by all his teammates. We couldn't be more thrilled to have him back in the black and gold."

The Steelhawks have also added a few additional pieces to the puzzle who will compete in the 40 man traiining camp this March.. OL Joseph Pearson (6'2, 300, Guilford College) is a big and physical Offensive lineman with the ability to play at any spot up front while Dwayne Hollis (5'10", 180, NC Wesleyan), a Defensive back, brings his coverage skills to a strong secondary unit.

In addition, two players were signed from the teams recent open tryout held on November 24 at Iron Lakes Sports Club. DB Stanley Dunbar (5'10", 200, Rhode Island) and LB Cory Darby (6'4", 225, Kutztown) were added to a strong core of recruited defensive players.

The Steelhawks are continuously adding talent for the 2014 season. The teams second open tryout will be announced in the coming days. Keep checking for the latest news and events from the Steelhawks!
