Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import linebacker Malik Jackson has signed a contract extension with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"Malik had an outstanding rookie season for us in 2009 as he started the year at defensive end before moving to linebacker," said Hufnagel. "I look forward to seeing how he will perform this season with a year of experience under his belt and a full training camp at the linebacker position."

Jackson was the Stamps' 2009 Most Outstanding Rookie nominee after leading Calgary with 65 tackles and five tackles for loss. He added three quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles, eight special-teams tackles and a pass knockdown.

"I'm really looking forward to my second season with the Stampeders," said Jackson. "I have a year of CFL experience now and I can't wait to get going again."

The 24-year-old Louisville product dressed in 15 regular-season games and both of Calgary's playoff contests in 2009. He started three games at defensive end early in the year and finished the regular-season with 10 consecutive starts at outside linebacker. He started at linebacker in both play contests.
