Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that Canadian Football League all-star cornerback Brandon Browner has re-signed with the club.
"Brandon has been an integral part of the Stampeders defence over the past two seasons," said Stamps head coach/general manager John Hufnagel. "He has established himself as one of the best defensive backs in the CFL and we're extremely pleased to have him back."
Browner, 24, will enter his third season with the Red and White and was the lone Stamps defender named to the CFL defensive all-star team. He finished second on the Stamps in 2008 with three interceptions and third with 61 tackles. He also forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles, had a quarterback sack, eight pass knockdowns and 14 special-teams tackles.
"I'm very happy to be back," said Browner. "I'm looking forward to being a part of this team and all of the excitement that comes with being the champs. It's going to be a fun season."
As a rookie in 2007, Browner had 55 tackles, one sack, one interception and 16 special-teams tackles. He tied for the league lead with four forced fumbles and had a team-high five pass knockdowns.
