Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders and Scotiabank are pleased to announce the launch of our Community Quarterback Contest.
The football club invites Calgarians to nominate outstanding volunteers in the community for a chance to be recognized during a Stampeders home game this upcoming Canadian Football League season.
Nominees must live in Calgary - or within a 50-mile radius - and exemplify commitment, leadership and passion to improving our community. The contest is open to volunteers who belong to registered non-profit organizations. Nominees also must be at least 18 years of age, work strictly in a volunteer capacity and not receive any compensation - monetary or otherwise - for their efforts.
"This contest gives us a great opportunity to recognize individuals in our community who make a difference on a daily basis," said Stampeders president Scott Ackles. "It's a unique platform to be able to show appreciation in front of 35,000 fans and I look forward to doing so at our home opener on June 13."
The contest opens on May 3 and nominations must be received by Aug. 27. Nomination ballots can be downloaded from www.Stampeders.com or www.calgaryherald.com and must be dropped off at a Scotiabank branch.
