The Calgary Stampeders travel to Toronto for a Friday-night matchup with the East Division-leading Argonauts. Kickoff at BMO Field is 5:30 p.m. MDT.
The Stamps are trying to extend their road winning streak against the Argonauts to nine games. Since a 39-36 loss at Rogers Centre on July 7, 2012, the Stamps have won eight straight away games against the Double Blue, with the victories coming in three different venues. The wins in 2013 and 2014 came at Rogers Centre while a 2015 victory came at Hamilton's Tim Hortons Field when a scheduling conflict with a Toronto Blue Jays playoff baseball game forced a location change. The five wins since 2016 have come at the Argos' new home at BMO Field.
The Stamps have outscored the Boatmen 271-130 during the eight-game streak.
It's the second meeting this month between the Stamps and Argos as Calgary won a Week 9 contest at McMahon Stadium by a score of 20-7. Stamps quarterback Jake Maier set a franchise single-game completion-percentage record (91.7 per cent) in that contest by finding his target on 22 of his 24 passes. Calgary also benefitted from a 137-yard rushing performance by Dedrick Mills and a defence that limited the Double Blue to 202 yards of net offence.
The Stampeders (3-7) are trying to get back in the win column after losing back-to-back games including a 19-18 setback last week at home to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Argos (7-1) were on a bye last week and their most recent game was a 44-31 win over the visiting Ottawa Redblacks in Week 10.
Calgary is 2-3 on the road in 2023 and 2-2 against the East Division. The Argonauts are 4-0 at home and 3-1 against the West.
After Friday's contest, the Stamps will return to McMahon Stadium to face the Edmonton Elks in the Labour Day Classic on Monday, Sept. 4. The game will kick off at 5 p.m. MDT.
