Stampeders to host special guests
September 4, 2009 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are proud to host students and families from Renfrew Educational Services at Saturday morning's practice.
The Stamps expect approximately 500 guests from Renfrew to watch practice, enjoy a barbeque hosted by Spolumbo's and interact with players at McMahon Stadium.
Media are welcome to attend. Guests will arrive at 11 a.m. and practice will end at noon. Players will join the event after team meetings, which end between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
"Renfrew's children and families are very excited to be part of this special day, which is being provided by the Stampeders and Spolumbo's," said Renfrew's executive director, Janice McTighe.
The event was purchased by Brookfield Asset Management Inc., as part of Renfrew's 14th Annual Charity Gala last February. It was then donated to Renfrew so that the children could enjoy the day.
A not-for-profit society and registered charity, Renfrew offers a broad range of specialized programs and is an acknowledged leader in program development for children with special needs. Renfrew is also known for its programs for typically developing children, who learn side-by-side with children with special needs.
The next Stamps home game is Sept. 7 against the Edmonton Eskimos and has been sold out. Tickets are still available for the following home date - Sept. 25 against the BC Lions - through Ticketmaster (403.777.0000 or online at Ticketmaster.ca) or visiting any local Safeway or Sport Chek location.
